Promotion of the 19th Cracovia Marathon during the 21st Maratona di Ravenna

For three days, a group of Polish competitors promoted the next year 19th Cracovia Marathon in Ravenna, Italy, where on the 10th November, the 21st edition of Maratona di Ravenna was held along with accompanying runs.

24 male and female competitors finished their running season advertising the next edition of the Krakow run in the Italian town. A trip to Ravenna was possible due to many-year cooperation between the organizers of Cracovia Marathon: the Municipality of Krakow, Sports Infrastructure Management Board of Krakow and representatives of Ravenna Runners Club ASD, who provided our runners with the starting numbers.

Winning the package together with a trip to and from Italy was possible through active participation in activities preparing for the 13th PZU Three Mounds Run and the 6th PZU Cracovia Royal Half Marathon. For those who could not take part in the trainings before the Krakow events, a competition was organized on the Cracovia Marathon profile on Facebook.

In the city full of history and art, the Polish competitors promoted the 19th Cracovia Marathon just two days before the start of the royal distance race. Before the Sunday's competition, the competitors participated in a short start-up, during which they promoted next year's edition of the Cracovia Marathon dressed in special shirts. They were also enthusiastically welcomed at the Maratona di Ravenna EXPO, where the Italian representatives of sports events and other competitors eagerly asked about running in Poland and Krakow.

On Sunday, the 10th November, our competitors stood at the start of the 21st edition of Maratona di Ravenna, half marathon and Good Morning Ravenna run (10.5 km), and then to set out to three routes specified by the Organizers.

The Kenyan, Japheth Kosgei, was the first at the finish line of the 21st edition of Maratona di Ravenna, among 1963 competitors, with a time of 2:10:42. He outclassed his rivals, gaining almost 7 minutes of advantage over the second runner. The next places on the podium were taken by his compatriots – Alex Trikoi Kiprotich (2:17:40) and Paul Koech Kimutai (2:18:59). It is worth noting that there were as many as six Italians in the top ten of this year's Maratona di Ravenna edition!

Pascalia Chepkogei from Kenya, who reached the finish line in 2:33:28, turned out to be the best among women. The podium was completed by two representatives of sunny Italy. The second – Sarah Giomi lost almost 7 minutes to Kenya, obtaining a time of 2:40:10. The third – Martina Facciani finished with loss more than 9 minutes to the winner (2:42:25).

Every year, Ravenna competitions attract a growing group of running enthusiasts. Approximately 16,000 people took part in all competitions organized as part of the 21st edition of the event! The royal distance was covered by 1963 competitors, the half marathon – almost 2,600. The event of 10.5 km, that is Good Morning Ravenna, was the most popular. On Saturday, other accompanying events took place – for children, families, as well as running with dogs.
