PZU Cracovia Maraton with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther(e): run for health to ourselves and others
November 8 (Sunday), was the final day of the PZU Cracovia Marathon project with the slogan to-ge (t)-ther(e)! On that day, the competition in the virtual race ended on October 19, and the marathon run transferred to the virtual world on November 8, 2020 and the relay race took place. As part of the project almost 1 200 people covered a total distance of over 22 500 km. The amount of about PLN 50 000 collected to the involvement of runners will be donated to the Specialist Hospital Stefan Żeromski in Krakow. The project sponsors: PZU, FoodCare (owner of Gellwe, Frugo, Ostromecko brands), Asics Polska, Superbet, Termy Krakowskie also provided their invaluable help for the hospital ward.
The virtual race was competing from October 19 to November 8. The run will be carried out via the application used in the virtual training of PZU Cracovia Marathon Challenge - the application will change its name to PZU Cracovia Maraton to-ge(t)-ther(e). All adult, regardless of their location, could take part in the challenge. Virtual competitions were intended for runners and inline skaters. There were 5 distances to choose from, where ZIS organizes traditional runs every year: 5 km, 10 km, 13 km, 21,097 km, 42,195 km. The distance could be covered on any chosen route
The Organizers have prepared two types of starter packages: basic (free) and premium (entry fee in the amount of PLN 40).
Funds from fees for premium starter packages will be donated to the Specialist Hospital Stefan Żeromski in Krakow. The vast majority of participants in the virtual run decided to purchase a paid package, at the same time contributing to help for the hospital.
Most people ran in Kraków (365) and Warsaw (72). Runners join us and sport to-ge(t)-ther(e) also abroad - in Great Britain, the Netherlands, Austria, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, Italy as well as in Latvia, Belarus, Ukraine and Slovakia.
