PZU Cracovia Maraton with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther(e) – we are moving to the virtual world, we run for health to ourselves and others
Due to today's speech of the Prime Minister of Poland and the tightening of legal regulations in the fight against the pandemic, as well as the projected increase in coronavirus infections, we made a difficult decision on the transfer of the traditional marathon run and the marathon relay race of the PZU Cracovia Marathon project with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther (e) to the virtual world. However, we don't stop and continue to connect with runners around the world in the virtual race! Our goal remains unchanged - to help the Specialist Hospital Stefan Żeromski in Krakow. Let's run for health to ourselves and others!
A few days before the longed-for start we made a very difficult decision to transfer the traditional race to the marathon distance for 250 people and the marathon relay race on treadmills to the virtual world. Your health and safety are most important to us. The situation has required and still requires prudence and responsibility. The decision made is extremely difficult. By including the traditional race in the PZU Cracovia Maraton with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther(e) project, we believed until the end that we would be able to meet you in Krakow, at least with some of you, for the first time this year. Once again we have to postpone the dream of shared emotions in Krakow.
Together we run for health to ourselves and others!
People who have qualified for the start list of the traditional run are encouraged to stay with us and join the virtual run! We encourage you to symbolically run 42 km and 195 m on the originally set date - November 8, 2020. You can do it at any location all day Sunday. However, it is important that you run with the regulation time limit - 4.5 hours from the start of the race.
We will create a separate classification - six best runners (both male and female) will receive material prizes. Winners will be determined based on the time recorded in the app. You will receive technical details regarding the registration by e-mail.
Of course, all participants of the traditional run who finish the marathon within the prescribed period will receive commemorative medal of PZU Cracovia Marathon with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther(e). All runners who have contributed as part of the fee for the traditional run may keep their contribution to the Specialist Hospital Stefan Żeromski in Krakow. Remember that in our PZU Cracovia Marathon project with the slogan to-ge(t) -ther(e) we are fighting for something more important than a place on the podium or an improvement in the life record.
We have #CommonGoal - the amount collected from the starting fees of the traditional run, fees for premium start packages of the virtual run and funds obtained from the Sponsors will be transferred to the Specialist Hospital Stefan Żeromski in Krakow.
Since October 19 vitrual run have been taking place since. Almost 950 runners from Poland and abroad. Participants can choose different distances: 5 km, 10 km, 13 km, 21.097 km and 42.195 km. The event is carried out via the PZU Cracovia Marathon application with the slogan to-ge(t)-ther(e).
There are four days left to the end of the virtual challenge – let’s join us! Let's show that despite adversity we still have the #CommonGoal. This goal is always a return to normal sports reality.
The year 2020 reminded us of one thing - sport connects and now we have to show more than ever that we are in this #together. Sport taught us that no matter where we are, we can be #together and maybe not yet but soon we will win this fight and meet at the start of more than one race - be it in Kraków, Poznań, Warsaw, Dębno, Wrocław… Let's not give up, let's take care of ourselves and others, regardless of the location, let's sport to-ge(t)-ther(e) and let's not forget that it will still be beautiful! Together we can do more so we hope you will stay with us and join the virtual event, which runs until November 8 inclusive. Let's show that nothing stops running!
