#ThroughHistory

Held since 2002, the Cracovia Marathon is the most important running event in Kraków and the largest spring run over the legendary distance in Poland. It is exactly 42.195 km and attracts runners from all over the world to the foot of the Wawel Castle.

The event is held under the theme “running through history”. Since 2014, the start and finish line of the marathon have been located on the Main Square, one of the greatest highlights of Kraków. This is a great opportunity to visit the most popular Polish city from a different perspective. Participants run past Kraków's greatest monuments, such as the Cloth Hall (Sukiennice), the Wawel Royal Castle, and Skałka Church. They also pass modern landmarks such as the TAURON Arena Kraków, the ICE Kraków Congress Center and the Father Bernatek Footbridge. In 2005, the runners appeared in Nowa Huta for the first time, and they returned there in 2018, after a five-year gap. It runs along the picturesque Vistula Boulevards and Błonia Krakowskie, and at the same time gives you the opportunity to get to know the modern architecture of the capital of Małopolska. So it combines what impresses and attracts the most in modern Krakow. It allows you to pass on the route objects from the Renaissance, Modernism and modern times at the same time, and to experience culture, history and nature.
