Route of the 18th PZU Cracovia Marathon
We present the route of the 18th PZU Cracovia Marathon, which will take place on 28th April, 2019. As in the previous edition of the run, the competition will take place on one loop, and marathon runners will also visit Nowa Huta. As it has been since 2014, once again the start and finish of one of the largest events of this type in Poland, included in the Crown of Polish Marathons Polish Marathons Crown, will be located on the Main Market Square in Krakow. According to the slogan of the event: "Through history", participants of the marathon will run between many great monuments of the Wawel gord.
The marathon runners will be able to see, not only the most important monuments in Krakow – like the Wawel, Sukiennice or historical sacral buildings, but also modern facilities characteristic for our city – such as the TAURON Arena Krakow or the ICE Krakow Congress Centre.
The first time the participants of the event appeared in Nowa Huta during the fourth edition of Cracovia Marathon (in 2005), and again a year ago, they returned there after a break of 5 years. While running on the route of the 18th PZU Cracovia Marathon, competitors will run, inter alia, through the most recognizable place in this district – Central Square named after Ronald Reagan.
The route was positively evaluated by the Public Road Administration of the City of Krakow, other Municipal Units and the Police. In addition, the route has the approval of the PAU, the IAAF and the AIMS.
In connection with one loop of the route, as in the previous year, at the royal distance of 42 km and 195 m, disabled runners racing on wheelchairs such as: hand bike, rim push and active wheelchair, will compete. For safety reasons, they will start the 18th PZU Cracovia Marathon 20 minutes before the runners.
