TAURON 22nd Cracovia Marathon: attendance record set, triumphers Bernard Kiprotich Too and Svetlana Sanko
The TAURON 22nd Cracovia Matron, which took place on April 6, started a record number of 6426 people in the history of the Kraków's marathon. 6330 of them crossed the finish line. The first to do so were Kenyan Bernard Kiprotich Too (time: 2:17:52) and Belarusian Svetlana Sanko, who has lived in Grudziądz for a long time (time: 2:37:21). Representatives of 51 countries took part in the challenge with the royal distance of 42 km and 195 m with start and finish on the Main Market Square. The date for the next, 23rd edition of the run is already known - April 19, 2026.

Together with the winner, the second Shedrack Kiptoo Kimaiyo (same time) finally arrived at the finish line, thus taking second place for the second year in a row. The podium was completed by the fastest Pole, Dariusz Boratyński, ASICS ambassador (time: 2:21:39). Hungary's Laszlo Tarnai finished fourth, Dominik Milewski, another Pole, was fifth, and Mateusz Mrówka, a miner who runs, was sixth.
The podium in the women's competition was completed by Kenyan women Chelangat Sang (time: 2:37:51) and Nancy Waigumo Githaiga (time: 2:38:24). Fourth place was won by their compatriot Rose Jepchumba, and fifth and sixth places were taken by Czech women Petra Pastorova and Barbora Macurova. The seventh to cross the finish line was the fastest Pole - Monika Brzozowska.
The best were decorated by the Vice President of the Management Board for Finance of TAURON Polska Energia S.A. Krzysztof Surma, Director of the Kraków Brand Department at the Kraków City Hall Daniel Wiśniowski and Director of the Sports Infrastructure Mnagement Board of Kraków, Director of TAURON 22nd Cracovia Marathon Tomasz Marzec.
From the very beginning, people with disabilities, including those starting in wheelchairs, have also competed in the Kraków's marathon. In the fastest and most populous handbike category among men, the first three places went to Veloaktiv Kraków riders - the first was Krzysztof Plewa, the second was Paweł Sochaj, and the third was Rafał Szumiec. The favorite for the 11th victory in Kraków, Paralympic medalist Rafał Wilk this time had to get a taste, as bad luck eliminated him from the fight - shortly after the start he punctured a front tire and had to withdraw from the race. Among women, another triumph in Kraków was achieved by Slovakian Anna Oroszova. The podium was completed by Katarzyna Lewera and Katarzyna Czechowska. Medals and awards were handed out by Jakub Kosek, Chairman of the Kraków City Council, Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of the City of Krakow for Persons with Disabilities Bogdan Dąsal and Director of the Sports Infrastructure Mnagement Board of Kraków, Director of TAURON 22nd Cracovia Marathon Tomasz Marzec.

The previous attendance record came from 2018, when 5848 people took part in the 17th Cracovia Marathon, and 5630 of them finished the competition.
TAURON 22nd Cracovia Marathon inaugurated a new running project called Gold Series 42, connecting Cracovia Marathon, Warsaw Marathon and Poznań Marathon.
